oil leak help. 87 tpi 305 with 92 block

There is oil leaking from my 305, the 87 block had an oil pressure fitting above the oil filter threaded in from left to right(as in the sensor pointed at the drivers fender) and this 92 block had a blind hole there so the guy that put the car together put the sensor in the top by the intake.... I then bought the car and got it running but there is a massive oil leak from that area, but the hole its coming from faces front to back(as in if its for a sensor it would be pointing at the front bumper) but its still at the rear of the engine above the oil filter. It looks like there is a tiny little freeze plug in there, but I can't really see. If I manage to get that freeze plug out, will there be threads behind it for a sender? I can't see up there very well, so I can't figure out what's going on there... Any help would he appreciated. I took a short video pk my phone of the area because it was too dark to take a picture, not sure how to put up the video.

Ok, if I am understanding you correctly, the hole you refer to above the oil filter is where you have oil leaking from? That is where the oil pressure sensor is located on a 92. Do you have oil pressure reading from where it is hooked up now? If so, all you have to do is install a plug into the hole above your oil filter. I don't recall my switch hooking up in the front like that, but there should be threads there to screw a plug in.

I don't see any threads. It kinda looks like there is a freeze plug, and I do not want to remove it unless I KNOW there are threads behind it. I don't see an oil pressure gauge, nor do I see a light so I'm sure the oil pressure sensor is what goes there... Again, do not want to remove the freeze plug unleess I know there are threads behind it.

2 Attachment(s)
??? There is a oil gallery right there and some people use that spot for an oil press. sender. As you can see here..... Its threaded bro just put a plug in it.

I know this sounds stupid but the oil is not coming out of that hole... It is coming out of the hole that you can see in the first pic, its a bell housing dowel hole.... That doesn't seem possible so ill re check it tomorrow but that is seriously where the oil looks like its coming from.

The last guy put a regular bolt in the sending unit hole, it must be shooting out of it looking like its coming from the dowel hole.... I'll go buy a gauge install kit for my mechanical oil pressure gauge tomorrow since this car doesn't have an oil press. Gauge.

Spray brake cleaner on the bolt to clean it and let it dry then start it and check for oil

The threads are 1/4" npt, I'm removing the bolt in the morning to install a gauge.

thats true and thats both a tapered thread and not a standard sae thread diam. so you need to use sealant on the threads and use the correct size npt plug or sensor

I can't believe the car doesn't have an oil pressure gauge so I am installing one.

Very little sealent is needed too much could get in that sending unit and give a faulse ready (happend to me once)

I figured it out. There was another hole directly below the oil pressure sender hole in the pics above. I removed that bolt and freaked out because there was no oil coming from there. I stuck my hand up there and felt around, there was a piece of masking tape from painting the block over the 1/4" npt hole...... It's in an odd spot, but I'm so relieved that I found it. I was sure for a minute that the block was cracked above the housing to the oil filter.

dont have any pics, its just about impossible to see, had to find it by feel..... i dont think i sealed it good enough, because it's got a minor leak now, but it's essentially fixed.
