First rebuild

I am getting an 85 Camaro with a 350 in it and i wanna rebuild it and make it a pretty quick daily driver with a carbeurator. as the title states this is my first rebuild and im looking for any advice or ideas for good parts. Any help is appreciated thanks

It's completely doable for a novice! I learned a few things the hard way so I'll pass them on.

- Get books. I'd recommend "how to rebuild a small block chevy" by David Vizard. Get two or three books. The more reference material you have, the better.

- Pay for quality machine work, it's worth it.

- Buy quality parts the first time rather than cutting corners.

As far as your actual build goes, how much power did you want?

probably about 400 hp. what block work did you have done? i was gonna deck the block and the heads and have it bored thirty over i was also gonna get an acid bath
