Car stumbles and dies.. So I have no idea what si wrong with the car, on hot days after driving for over half an hour or so the Tachomaeter will "flicker" and it feels like no gas is getting to the engine needless to say it dies and will start back up but will have the same issue again.. I have a 1990 305 TBI with all the following new: Fuel pump, Fuel Filter, Fuel injector filters, Distrubitor, Cap, Rotor, Wires, Plugs, Ignition Coil, MAP sensor, TPS, Vaccuum lines ( year old), I did the code reading and got codes 21,23,42 and 45, The only time the service engine light soon has popped on was during this issue, Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
Re: Car stumbles and dies.. HAve you checked the purge valve , Its part of the vapor recovery system, its eather on the charcoal canister or in line from the canistor to the TB. Its something that can be checked with a vacuum punmp |
Re: Car stumbles and dies.. I'll go ahead and check that out real quick. |
Re: Car stumbles and dies.. I went ahead and ordered the check valve for the purge canister should be in tomorrow I am hoping this will cure the problem. |
Re: Car stumbles and dies.. Did you ever figure out what the problem was with your car. |

Re: Car stumbles and dies.. Well replaced the gas cap and purge valve, Just got the new EVAP canister filter today gonna go ahead and install it, I notice after driving I will unscrew the gas cap and can hear the gas tank expanding like it was building up too much pressure maybe breather is clogged? Not sure yet so gonna try to unplug it. |
Re: Car stumbles and dies.. Just remeber after you install the new purge valve and the cannister to adjust the TPS. other wise it wont run right. |
Re: Car stumbles and dies.. Thanks for the tip, I decided to get a new gas cap while I was at it since the old one didnt want to screw on correctly anymore made a huge difference now just figuring out idling issues but hey thanks for all the help! |
