oil ingestion in intake thru pcv?

STILL ingesting oil in to the intake thru the pcv system and can't figure out why - assuming it to be the cause of my oil consumption... engine was built (years ago) to accomodate the LT4 hotcam and after having redone the heads again (r/r valve seals), oil is being ingested thru the pcv valve system. have used about a qt of oil over the course of a couple hundred miles. i suspected the pcv valve sytem before, so put clear tubing on it this time so i could get a visual = oil in the tube. baffles are in place in the valve cover, used a low-vac pcv valve, doesn't seem to be going thru the tube in to the intake on the pass. side, either... need to resolve this issue so i can get on with tuning it, so if you have a clue (unlike me) throw it out there cuz i'm about out of ideas on this one...

Check oil level, (i.e. incorrect dip stick?). Make sure breather hose is not clogged nor connected to an incorrect port. An open element breather may help. Also check to see if the oil drain holes in the heads are open.

Open element breather on one side, new pcv on other. Make sure its installed in the right flow direction. Factory runs tube from valve cover to throttlebody as fresh air source but it just aids in consuming oil.

Other thing you can do is air oil separator installed inline

I have a problem with my pcv hose too. Today I happened to notice a little bit of stained oil on the intake manifold where the pcv hose goes to the back of the intake manifold. Can't figure out why it's doing this.. No oil leaking from around the pcv, just the hose going into the intake. Any ideas?

If there is oil puddling on the intake more than likely it is cause bye the inner intake bolts not having Teflon or sealer on them.

dip stick is correct one, there's a measureable difference from what the level was before and what it is now. tubing/routing should be correct, but i will check that to be sure, hopefully that is in the service manual... may have to resort to an air/oil separator. never had this problem before i rebuilt this engine with the hotcam and i'm sure i'm not the only one running with that cam... before i rebuilt the heads again, i had oil pooling in the rear of the intake where the intake temp sensor is, not sure if that's still the case now, kind of hard to see (without a scope) when it's all installed. thanks for the replies.

ghost - what tuned performance said probly holds true for you...

No oil puddling. Just a small stain surrounding the breather hose going into the intake.

Check the vacuum fitting for being tight. Over time with heat and being exposed to oil the pcv hose will not seal on the nipple and becomes hard. This hose is usually fine to seal with the barb for retention but adding a spring loaded hose clamp may help the sealing issue.A replacement hose is not available anymore from gm but maybe available through corvette America or zip.

Re: oil ingestion in intake thru pcv?

It's a brand new hose actually. I just put new valve covers on not too long ago, requiring a longer hose than stock obviously. So since then, I've noticed the small stain on the intake.
