Dipstick tube stuck

When removing the exhaust manifolds the little bracket that the dipstick tube is bolted on with broke off and the dipstick tube broke right at that point. I need to remove the tube and I've read that it can be removed by simply pulling on it, but I've yanked on the thing for a while and it's not budging. Any ideas?

Re: Dipstick tube stuck

Clamp a pair of vise grip type pliers on it and smack the pliers with a hammer using upward force. You can also use the pliers to twist the dip stick tube slightly, but be careful not to twist it in half. It that doesn't work, then you could pull the oil pan and drive it out from the bottom. Hopefully it will not come to that.

Hey, that worked beautifully! Yeah I was starting to panic, I had the engine on the ground and gripped it with both hands and it didn't budge. Entire engine started to rock. Thanks for the help. This is a mess. I'm looking for a replacement tube, read a few different alternatives, mostly aftermarket. I'm going to go by the gm performance parts and see if I can get an original as well as exhaust manifold bolts and studs. The hardware kit I ordered has all the wrong sizes it seems. Thanks though.

I think there's an O-Ring you'll need also
