Need help finding tool, non-thirdgen, non GM

I need to replace the valve stem seals on a Navistar diesel, and I can't find an air-hose adapter to thread into the 10mm glow plug holes. Does anyone have any ideas where I can get one?

Ape Fe,

You can get tubing fittings that are 10x1.0 and make your own adapter for the compressed air supply. They are available from Lube USA, McMaster-Carr, and probably any good local industrial supplier.

Don't forget the option of converting a metric brake line fitting by welding on a coupling and using a 1/8-27 air line fitting or quick-coupler. Or you could toss the thing and get a Detroit diesel...

A diesel compression gauge will have the right thread, just take the core out and use the correct air fitting to adapt to the hose.

I've done this before and it works great. (If you have a diesel comp. gauge :D )

Whenever I ask for anything at the stores around here their eyes just glaze over as soon as I say the word diesel. I tried asking for a diesel compression gauge kit, but more than once I was asked why it was different from a gas one. Maybe I'll just have to braze something together if I can find a decent industrial supplier.

You most likely won't find a diesel comp gauge at any auto parts store.

You will ned to contact Snap On, Mac, or another tool supplier since it is a specialty tool.

I can't remember ever seeing one over the counter.

Good luck.
