Will a Vette oil pan work in a thirdgen?

Just wondering so I don't get a big surprise when I go to put the engine in. It's a '91 Vette L98 motor.

It wont work, it will fit but the y pipe will run into problems.

The pickup and sump are the same in all small blocks. Z28 oil pan, windage tray and pump spring is the only way to go for oiling. Get a junkyard pan if you are worried.

Green, so are you saying it will work?

Probably, but dont quote me. The only crossmember clearance issues between SBC cars that I have heard of was 1st gen Novas. Go for it! It is not hard to replace if it comes you need one from the scrap yard.

I don't know about the later 'Vette oil pans, but some of the earlier (higher performance models-not 'base' versions) small block 'Vette pans would not fit most other (Chevelle, Camaro, etc) chassis set-ups.

The sump extended forward (relative to other small block pans) and held an extra quart of oil. Counting the filter, some of the earlier 'performance' 'Vettes held six quarts.

Listen to me dont do it. i tried it when i put the vette motor in my car. It will fit but the exhaust wont work with it, and u will need to pull the motor out to get the correct one on.
