Ok, I think im gunna come out on top, but I wana hear your opinion on this... My friend kevin calls me up around 2 today and askes if i want to race his bro.. now last time i saw his bro, he had a 6 banger stang (94) and he had a hyaboosa (sp?) I asked him whats he gunna race me in, and he said dont worry about it, just race... just be ready to race he tells me. He hangs up and i cant reach him again... so i call my brother and tell him to drive by kevins house and see if there are any cars with the carolina plates on them... he goes over and sees the step side z71... now my friend kevin is a DUMBASS to the 100th power.. no idea about cars, not a clue... He thinks his bro is gunna waste me in this truck. The truck is an older, mid 90's stepside, probably with a 305 tbi... i dont know of any mods, but its got to have something in it for him to call me. My friends are always talking about how this car could beat my car and this car could wipe my car out... when in fact non of my friends cars could break into the 17's. Kevin has a 96 ford taurass with the 3.0 motor... They are always pointing out things wrong with my car... well its time to shut them up. sorry about the length of the post.. just kinda mad at my friends.. what if he was running a 100 shot on the truck? could he have a chance that way? thanks guys.

I was under the impression that Z71's got 350's. If this is the case, you better watch yourself, they can be kind of quick. Good luck, I think you should win.

i know how u feel, i have friends like that. one kid i know asked me if could beat my friend mikes car which was an 86 carbed crx, big ol pos, i was like, um yeah... he goes think u can beat my car? i wasnt paying attention anymore and just go, huh o yeah sure, he goes nno no dawg! i got nawwzzzzz! its only a 1.8L though but i still got nawz! it was some early 90's integra i just told him yeah and left.

as for u, im sure u will beat him, he probably bought the truck of some dude who told him it had a performance rebuild and they think its da sh!t cause they can actaully spin a tire. :lala: :lala: :lala:

I dont think you have anything to worry about. My friend has one with a stock 350 and its not exactly fast, nice truck though.

Z-71 means the 4x4 extra skid plates and heavy duty shocks. Meaning this truck is a 4x4 and heavier than a 2 wheel drive, but should not be too quick. Low gearing might get him outa the hole quicker tho.

Its not likely he can even touch you man, if you think about it. If he has a 350 he probably ran 16's stock , with a 100 shot of nitrous it would only pull him to 15's . If he has alot done theres a chance , but 305 tpi camaros ran high 14's to low 15's stock and you have some mods so youll probably win , and it will take him longer to grip when you take off . alright, here is what went down...i get a call around 1 am and its my friend kevin, he asked if i wana race... he doesnt know that i had my bro go over the house and see whatever car he was gunna race... so im like, bring your sorry a$$ and your bro over here and we will go run.. .hes like hell no, come over my house and then we will go(we live 5 mins from eachother)... so i basicly told him to go f himself. Then he calls me up 10 mins later saying his bro dont wana run tonight, that he wants to run tommorrow.. then I went off at him, and then he says, " Your just scared to race my brother and his boosa"...... Im like scared?.. im gunna race a 9 sec bike?!?! thats not a race, thats like me saying ill race you in your huffy 21spd. Hes like, your scared... im like no, there is no fun in racing your stupid bike... I told him that if he(kevin) was gunna ride the bike, i would race. Kevin cant drive a nail into the wall much more drive a bike. So he hung up on me and that was it.... Whata jack a$$... Kevin is a r!cer and a half.. he says hes gunna get this and this car with this turbo and this supercharger when he mommy wont even let him have a cap gun. The man is 19 years old, and hes a dumba$$ when it comes to cars... he really is. Him and my friends come over when i wash and wax my car and he tells me im doing it all wrong, and that my buffer is no good and my wax sux. Mean while this ahole is putting in strobe lights and neons in his car, and wiring them strait off the batter, down the fender, around the door jamb, into the car... his switches heat up if left of for too long. He also raced me in my taurass, and he pulled out his air filter!! Im like, i hope a HUGE rock just climbed into your engine and is now tearing apart the cyclinder walls and intake and exhaust valves. Ok im done with the rant... this is bs.. Im gunna talk to him later to see if he's finaly put down the crack pipe.

I can help you out here. I have 1997 a Z71 Off Road. Yes, they came with Vortec 350's. 245-250HP. Not a whole lot. He will have you off the line ( considering you will most likely spin ) and they can be a tiny bit peppy. I raced a 1991 RS 5 speeds all stock. And I beat him, by about a car and a half. But, seeing how you got more power than him.....Id give this one to you.
Just race him and tell us how it goes.

hehe 87iroc... read my last post. :doh: hehe its ok man. yea im gunna ask if he wants to run me with his truck... but right now im so pissed i just wana punch kevin right in his face for being an ahole. hes had it coming to him for some time.

first off... i dont know y u are friends with that loser...no offense to you or anything..... but i want to tell you a story about my experinces with trucks..... about 4 years ago i got a 84 z28... with the 305 HO in it... a real good friend of mine has a 95 dodge ram sport w/ the 5.9 in it .... well before i got my car i have seen him munch on some z71 by 2-5 cars.... well when i got my 84, of course he wanted to race.... so we took it to the track (to be safe, i was just starting to race).. i pulled on him a car.... it stayed like that untill june of last year when i got my 87 IROC...(read sig)... of course again he wanted a piece.... this time i pulled on him 4 1/2 cars.... now hes talking about those HEMI's (which i've beaten by a car ) so you should have no problem with the truck , this being said if he will even race it

hey man, my friend has an early 90's Z71, and he also thinks he can beat everything on the road. Every time I saw him he would talk bull**** about it. I ended up racing him in my TA (also an 87 tpi)....It wasn't even close man, I killed that thing...

the only thing you have to watch out for is the driver...I've noticed that kids in "fast" pickups are crazy mother****ers..but as long as he doesn't get you both killed you should have no trouble shutting all your friends up...

Dude I raced friend of mine from this site, I was driving my 97 Z71 and he was driving 89 GTA 5.7 TPI .He did beat me by about 2 cars. My truck is stock 5.7 Vorteh 3.73 posi, and it is about 6600lbs.
I think he will beat you off line. Good luck
