New GTi's... anyone know what they run?

Car & Driver has it rated at 15.2 in the quarter, which seems a bit low to me for a blown 2.0 pushing 200hp in a hatch, but I don't know VW's. It struck me as odd that it weighs in at 3000lbs. Seems a bit heavy for an import compact.

Has anyone test driven one, or have any idea what they run outside the test track?

Nicer interiors weigh more.

VW puts a large amount of high density sound deddening (sp?) in their interiors, not to mention the quality of the internal layout. I'd say its all good for another 200lbs of dead weight. Maybe more.

a buddy of mine is now serious about getting one as he was very impressed after the test drive...and if i know him as well as i think, he'll be driving it like a rental at the track this sesason.

Little pricey for a small car. Especially one that requires special training to work on.

I think japanese imports are superior, in my .02 cents. Especially Lexus.

Those cars are a lot nicer than the regular Hondas and Toyotas though.

Although the new Si's have navigation in them.

My friend is getting either an 01 or 03. Nice cars, though they really aren't as fast as you would think.

He says the GTi is available with a turbo 2.0 or a N/A 2.8 V6... I'm not so sure about the V6, is that true? I know the VR6 Jetta is a 2.8, but in a GTi?

If your going to drop so much money into a new car. go all the way.

Get the R32 "golfball"

That sucker runs a low 14 second. stock
