Omni GLH anyone.... Has anyone had any run-ins with an Omni GLH? I was reading about how they could smoke most Camaros, and other modern day muscle cars. I was just wondering if thats true. What would a street race look like between GLH and a stock V8 f-body, both 305 and 350? Thanks. ------------------ "I have the car, now I need a license!" 217 days 'till temps as of Nov. 7th! yeah, I'm only 14. 1982 Firebird S/E sbc 307 with summit cam and lifters, Performer intake, 305 heads, quadrajet, all smog equipment removed, soon to be silver. |

do not mess with those little glhs with a bit of tweeken those things scream....there is a reason their name means "goes like hell"...they dont weigh much and have the same motor as the turbocharged shelby daytonas... ------------------ http://www.dreamwater.org/auto/snuffit/siggy.jpg bah stupid sig [This message has been edited by Snuffit (edited November 27, 2001).] |
I had an 86 Omni GLH with no mods it went 15.27 best. I would beat up on most of the f-bodies. This was not the S model which was rare and had an intercooler. They ran mid 14's stock. There is one at MIR that has run in the 12's. Pete |
I had a run in with a friend's friends's GLHS on the street oneday in my low 14 second 'vert...neither of us could pull on the other. before i turned to pontiac i had quite a few of these turbo fwd's. and 3 of my friends were very successful with theirs. for example: 1987 glhs charger with 24lbs of intercooled boost was 12.5 at 125. my 88 shelby z was 13.5 at 103. my 1992 IROC RT was stock and posted a 14.3 at 97. also my omni GLH was totally stock with a 15.2 at 89.if you guys are interested go to....... www.thedodgegarage.com you will be amused. they have an AIRES K that runs 10's. also the reason i turned to pontiac was after a year i spun 2 rod bearings and my friend running 12's motor had to be rebuilt after every 5000 street miles. they run good but do not last long. |
A good friend of mine has had an Omni GLHS since the 80's.A fast car for sure, would totally rip by my 84'305/4brl without a problem(that Camaro had some pathetic hp for a smallblock v8). It's a sleeper if I've ever seen one, along with many other dodge "shelby" version cars.My 89'IROC has no problem beating it,but I can barely hang with my wifes 2002 Maxima! |
The GLH stands for Goes Like Hell... They are fast, just kind of ugly.... ------------------ 86 SC, 305 LG4, TH700R4, SLP headers, 3" cat and exhaust. ZZ intake, Mild cam 204/214, .423/.442.
