255lph fuel pump require different fuel pressure regulator? I need to replace the fuel pump on my '89 Formula 350. It doesn't seem like an aftermarket 255lph pump will cost much more than a generic factory replacement, and it couldn't hurt to have better fuel pressure potential down the road in case I end up modding the motor. The motor is currently stock, aside from SLP headers. However, I am concerned as to whether or not I will need a different fuel pressure regulator. Will the existing OEM fuel pressure regulator still supply the right fuel pressure to the motor even though 255lph fuel pump supplies fuel at a greater rate than the factory fuel pump would? Or, will I need an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator to keep fuel pressure down to acceptable levels? |
I got a walbro 255 and my fuel pressure stayed the same as stock. I wouldent worry about it adversely affecting performance but an adjustable regulator is a good buy in and of itself. |
ive never heard of anyone having that problem, so i wouldnt worry about it. :) |
The 255 is volume. The fuel pressure regulator doesnt care about the volume of fuel, only the pressure... so there's no problem. |
