Rocker arms. slots, self align?

Looking to replace the rockers on my 88 with the L98 engine. My heads have slots, not round holes, and the stamped rockers look to be self aligning. All factory I assume, but is it common to have this combination? Whatever rockers I buy, should I use self aligning? Not sure I can find 1.6 ratio rockers that are self align, but could I use regular rockers with the slots in the heads as in older engines? I've searched and for sure the rocker arm topic has been really covered but I haven't seen this addressed.

I had the same setup on my formula. Slots in heads just large enought for pushrod to go thru and stamped selfalign rockers from the factory.

I have no idea what the factory was smoking when they did this.

I ended up breaking a rocker stud due to some unusual ware and a few others showed some ware patterns.

You sould only have ONE source for guiding the pushrods.

1 . Slots in heads

OR

2. Self aligning rockers

OR

3. Guide plates

I know run standard roller rockers, just use slots in heads to do the aligning.

If you want good self aligning 1.6 ratio rocker arms the only ones for these engines I could find are Comp Cams Pro Magun rocker arms part number 1316-16 or Crane Gold Race Extruded Roller rocker arms part number 10758-16. There are cheaper non self aligning rocker arms made by both these and probably other companies.
