Install engine with TPI intake, accessories, in place or not?

Hi guys,

Does anyone have any stong opinions on whether the TPI Itake should be installed on the engine when it's out of the car? Or once it's back in?

How about the distributor? Front accessories like water pump etc?

Thanks,

I installed my engine (with the help of some friends) with the TPI manifold installed, along with the water pump. We left the distributor and accessories off for clearance.

Aggreed, its better to put the intake on with the motor out, leave the dristibuter out, (put a rag in the hole). Everyone will agree leaning over your car is not the best feeling in the world when you do it for long periods at a time. Theres enough room in the front, so you can put ur water pump on. Thats as far as id go. You can put everything else on once the motor get put back in.

Thanks for the help.

I ended up installing the intake and water pump on the engine whilst it was out, then installing the accessories, distributor, alternator etc once the engine was in. I put the headers in the engine bay and tied them to the inner wings while I lowered the engine down onto it's mounts.

I thought you had that installed already.

I installed mine with no distributor, intake manny only, ALL front accessories were on.

I found, after the fact, that I could've installed my LT's from underneath the car.

Vipklr, I've got the whole thing done. It was finished and back on the road properly a few weeks back. I was just going through some of my recent threads updating them where appropriate.

Is your car nearly finished yet?

I kinda figured that when I saw that you hit one of your threads from April.

Mine's nearly finished. It's currently at the shop getting exhaust. Talk about custom. That Spohn trans x-member with DS loop and LT's is causing numerous problems with my exhaust. It's looking like i'm going to have to go H-pipe instead of the X that I have. Once I get it back I have to hook up my wideband and start tuning. So I guess i'm nearly finished but still have a long way to go.
