Fuel Injetor "O" rings

I'm about ready to assemble my injection system and need a little advise. Other than size, is there anything special about the "O" rings for the injectors and fuel rails.

They're probably made out of Viton or some other chemically resistant material, but you're best bet is to get some AC Delco ones and use them. Which ones have you purchased? Hope this helps.

If you want the dealer's injector o-rings, the part number is 17112222.

Most definitely use the big beefy blue GM o-rings. They go on better and are made for the purpose. When you order the fuel rail o-rings make sure your dealer is getting you ALL of them. The fuel rail o-ring kit doesn't have all the ones you need.

17111696 Fuel Rail O-Ring Kit - 19.85

22514722 O-Ring - Fuel Line in/out of rail. The ones they don't give you. Need this one and one below. This is the larger of the two. 48 cents.

22516256 O-Ring - Fuel Line in/out of rail. The ones they don't give you. Need this one and one above. This is the smaller of the two. 47 cents.

17113544 Fuel Injector O-rings - Seal Kit
$ 18.14

Keep in mind these parts are specific to my 86 T/A and the prices are from about a year ago. Yours most likely are the same.

PS... notice my o-ring part number is different than the other post. Make sure you check your application for exact numbers. I'm thinking this may be due to different injector sizes. Mine are 19# for a 5.0 Liter Engine.

Are you serious? $38 dollars for 16 "O"rings? I'm in the wrong business!

Unfortunately I am serious. I really thought long and hard about replacing the o-rings on my injectors because Rich at Cruzin Performance had just reconditioned my injectors and they had new o-rings.

Then I thought 20 bucks 8 o-rings. But I was still chasing a code 44 and I thought they might be leaking. There was no comparision to the standard rings vs. the GM rings. If you get them you will see what I mean.

On the fuel rail kit I didn't want to sit there and match exactly all the right sizes so I just got it. By all standards you could hand pick the fuel rail o-rings from NAPA for probably 4 bucks.

PS....and BTW the fuel rail itself has either 13 or 15 o-rings in a complete re-seal.

Were there anything wrong with the o-rings he gave you? Overall, how was the service he provided? I'm going to start taking my injectors off in an hour or so to send to him. Let me know what you thought of his service.

I recently replaced all of my fuel rail and injector o-rings for less than five dollars from pep boys, never had any problems.

Yeah I found them at napa dirt cheap as well, fo regular stores the "Help" brand section offers a package of assorted orings for cheap and low and behold like 6 of the ones in the package were injector orings (I was amazed) so I bought a couple of packages.

Kingtal0n 02-28-2003 03:57 PM

O-rings? you mean there are supposed to be O-rings around my injectors??

Uh oh...

What came in this kit? just the 16 O-rings? I am putting a HSR on soon and will be putting new O rings on the injectors at the same time and Im wondering if thats all the O rings Im gonna need. I take it the HSR has o rings on its fuel rail kit.

Jza 03-03-2003 02:23 PM

Hm. another post back from the dead.

No, the HSR kit does not come with any injector o-rings.

B4Ctom1 03-12-2003 06:34 PM

I dont replace mine unless they are deformed, flat or torn.
