V6 MAF vs. V8 MAF? I got my hands on a V6 MAF today, which have the film inside, much sturdier then the V8 hotwire (from what I hear), and the harness looks the same, and if I'm not mistaken, they work on the same theory, right? So are they swappable? Thanks ahead. -Reno 89 Formula |
Reno, From all the research I've done, the V-6 MAF used a digital output scheme (like the later MAFs on LT1 and LS1 engines). The V-8s between 1986 and 1990 used an analog output scheme, so the two are not compatible. The connectors should be different (intentionally) to prevent inadvertent connection of the wrong MAF sensor. ------------------ Later, Vader ------------------ "Get UP - Drop the bombshell!" You can trace detonate an engine to destruction in using the wrong part long term. YMMV |
