Good info on stock airbox vs cold air intake

I was at TPIS awhile back and they were testing the stock airbox to see what its limited to. With a gutted air box and some kind of hawks ram air boxes, and a gutted maf, the air box runs out of air around 425 hp. Anything above that you should use a 3 inch cold air intake. June 28th when I go to the track I am going to test both methods to see which on yields better results.

Did they happen to list CFM numbers? I cant seem to find that info for a camaro lid/intake. Just the firebird setup which is totally different.

So what happened? I cant find anythreads with somebody testing both style intake systems. All I can find on here are opinions and no real testing that has been done.

I agree with THEGOOSEMAN... everyone says their opinion on stock snorkel setup vs the aftermarket single intake. . We need real test info .. not opinions.

Is cutting the maf screen a good safe idea? People say that you get slightly better air flow but will it mess with the motor?

I built my own custom cold air intake with 3.5 inch aluminum tubing, and I did notice a difference in high RPM pull. As for cutting the mesh screen on the MAF, I personally would not do it because, 1) I don't see how you would get more air flow and 2) if you manage to break the sensor they are very expensive to replace.

Are there any test results from the stock snorkel air box gutted vs a single aftermarket intake?

Interested in knowing the difference if any... I have the stock snorkel set up in my garage and the single aftermarket intake on the car now... cant tell a difference personally. but maybe if i gutted the stock snorkel set up i would?
