help.... 1985 TPI system

I'm just tearing into the TPI's for the first time. I have a 92 TBI that I'm converting. I have a 1985 TPI system. Just curious as to if the 89-92 runners will bolt right up to the 85 Plenum. The 85 obviously has the cold start tube on it. Do the 89 and up runners have the cover plate for this already cast into them??

I have heads for 87 and up manifolds so I really just need to know if the plenum is interchangable on the runners. Thanks!

The late runners blank off the cold start ports

Do your self a favor and lose the 85 system. The manifold itself is fine and if you have the 87 and up heads you'll just either need an 87 and up base or just modify a few of the holes on the 85 base you have and youll be fine useing the runners and plenium you already have no need to change them as they arnt specific to the heads used. Though you could bolt 89 and up runners to your plenum and base you'd just lose your cold start injector which you would need to account for. Depending on what base and runners you have will determine if you can run the cold start injector although ide recommend not if reasonably possible not because its bad just because why have another part that can fail if you don't need it? The problem comes in when you get to the 85 electronics. The 85 TPI electronics have 1 year odd ball things thats can make life miserable. For example the MAFS module which only the 85 year has is $700! The 85 uses a different ECM which i dont know if you will be able to eliminate the cold start injector as i dont know if the later proms that had routines to make the cold start injector obsolete can be used in that ECM. long story short the 85 manifold is good the 85 electronics are bad.

Well that's good cuz I don't have the harness or computer for th 85 system. Just the Plenum, Runners, Manifold Base, Fuel Rails & Injectors. So everything but the harness and computer pretty much.

I need to use a 91 or 92 harness and computer on my car to make the conversion easiest. I don't suppose I'll have trouble getting that to function with the 85 TPI system will I? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

And the base I'm not concerned about either since I have an Edelbrock Hi-Flo on order.
