Intake Manifold Gaskets?

I'm swapping out my 305TBI and starting fresh with a 383 TPI build. I have the edelbrock 60859 heads. I did a search through summit after measuring the intake port dimensions on the heads, and came up with Felpro 1256 intake manifold gaskets as the best fit. I was planning on doing a modest/mild port job on the stock lower TPI intake manifold but after lining up the gasket with the bolt holes, the top side of the manifold only has at most 1/8" thick of gasket material to actually seat on. The rest of the gasket is sticking out of the top of the manifold. On some ports I can even see some of the blue outline of the gasket, OUTSIDE the manifold!

Is there a better fit gasket I should be looking at for the tuned port intake manifolds? I guess I could get a smaller ported gasket if it lines up better and just take an exacto knife to the interior of the gasket.

But then my argument thought is if the stock gasket mating surface is .25" wide, and I plan on porting out .125" of the wall, then that still leaves only .125" of gasket mating surface left on the intake.

Guidance anyone? Much appreciated...

Does this belong in a different part of the forum or something?

Thanks! :burnout:

I used felpro and the do stick out a little, which is annoying, but the work great. This has been the same for several sets i've used
