Reinstalling Plenum.

I replaced my fuel injectors and I am putting everything back together. I am have the hardest time getting the plenum to lineup with the runners so I can install the bolts.

What the heck am I doing wrong?

The way I see it, the runners must be bolted on the bottom first or else you cannot access the bolt on the inside of the runner to the intake manifold with the plenum on.

I want to get this puppy fired up...

Loose fit the bottom bolts on the runners. Then line up the top and loose fit those bolt. Then tighten everything up.

Had mine off twice in the last week. The easiest way i have found is torque down the passenger side, leave the driver side slightly loose. Set the plenum and start the bolts in it. You can get to the inside back bolt with a 3 inch extention going from the passenger side in front of the distributor. you only get very little turn on it so it will take a few minutes...be patient.

are the runners the same for both sides or they marked passenger side and driver side. is it possible to get them mixed up?

Re: Reinstalling Plenum.

I have a question for you about when you took them out. I am ready to take my fuel rail off, the only this stopping me is the bolt holding the fuel lines. I took the one by the alt off and they are loose, but I can not get them to snake through by the alternator so I can get that last bolt out of the block. Any tips?

Re: Reinstalling Plenum.

Per factory procedure:
-Tighten the runner to lower manifold bolts on the passengers side
-Install the runner to manifold bolts on the drivers side with some wiggle room
-Tighten the runner to plenum bolts on the passengers side
-Install the runner to plenum bolts on the drivers side
-Torque the passengers side when all bolts are installed
-Torque the drivers side

Be sure to torque from the middle bolts to the outside on the lower intake manifold, as well as the plenum (I believe factory torque spec is 25/lbft)....

Its a PITA to take it out that way. Just unbolt the alternator and "swing" it on its hinge out of the way. The fuel rail should be able to awkwardly twist its way out of its home.

I have it swung out, just having trouble twisting the fuel line out. I gave up tonight. Will get back at it tomorrow after work.
