Idling Issue Park/Neutral Well, my car is having idling issues I tried to reset the IAC but is just not doing what its supposed to. When I start the car the rpm is at 1100 than it creeps up to 1600, sometimes it goes even higher. I've followed every procedure posted on TG (jump AB, turn the key, wait 30 seconds, unplug the IAC, turn the key off, unjump the AB terminals, plug in the IAC) but nothing seems to work, the minimum Idle with IAC off is at 450 rpm. Also when I put the car in gear the rpm is normal at 650. I've also adjusted the pin in the IAC, used 2 different ones, reset the ECM but nothing… Could it be a vacuum leak? But it doest make sense that it idles perfect in gear. And I understand that if my car has MAF with a leak the rpms go down. Am I doing something wrong? Any help will be appreciated. PS: Timing is at 8* with the BTDC. |
Re: Idling Issue Park/Neutral Hey I just went through a whack of problems resetting the base idle. The tech instructions are missing a step, unplugging the est plug near the heater box. Search for a thread called 'adjusting idle speed on tpi engine' on tgo and at the bottom is a link to a pick from a service manual with the correct procedure. Worked like a charm for me. Sounds like your idle speed is correct at 450 unless it was reset incorrectly before. Mine wouldn't idle down to 450 without jumping all over the place. I'm also running stock 6degrees of timing but can't see that causing the 1600 rpm idle. Tps would probably be out of adjustment now if you haven't done that. It's strange that it'll idle down in gear thou. |
Re: Idling Issue Park/Neutral Wow really? I will try it, hope it works. |
Re: Idling Issue Park/Neutral Ok, I followed the procedure according to the service manual and still nothing. Funny thing is that it did idle how is supposed to when I did the whole procedure but as soon as I took it for a ride and then parked it, it went back to 1600 rpm at idle. I've been driving it like that for the last couple of days since it does idle at 750rpm in gear but I think now is causing the car to overheat. HELP PLEASE! |
Re: Idling Issue Park/Neutral What is NOT stock on the engine (internals, intake, computer, emissions, etc.)? |
Re: Idling Issue Park/Neutral It's all stock, just installed a VATS delete chip but it started acting up way after the install. Has new cap and rotor, ignition coil, bosch +4 plugs… nothing to consider. |
