Edelbrock Lower Intake install help.
 

Hello there

I currently replacing the lower intake manifold and runners on my LB9 and I'm having trouble aligning the gasket. Trying to make sure the gasket does not cover any part of the intake port of the head and the injector passage its becoming a challenge. I got the stock size from Felpro, maybe that might be the issue. I have attached a pic of the gasket showing a bit over where the injectors go. Is this normal or should I try to push it out of the way with a screw driver. Thanks

you could either trim it or err on the side of keeping the injector unobstructed.

frankly for the useable rpm range and horsepower level of the average TPI engine, a slight overhang on the floor of the intake port isn't going to result in any noticeable reduction in power.

if I had to choose, I'd rather have a minor overhang on the intake port than an obstruction along the ineljector port.

Thanks, I took the intake manifold back out and readjusted the gasket. I went ahead and put it back on, now I have major vacuum leaks. Will try to sort it out next weekend.

Trying to install this edelbrock base and Accel runners is turning out to be some work, specially for an accountant lol.

What year car do you have? Just did a edelbrock high flo and accel runners myself

Did you put rtv on the front and rear of the block before you installed the intake manifold?

I am installing it on a 1989 LB9. I Already noticed tow issues. One, I have to block the small runner on the driver side, since is not covered by the plenum. And the other is that my injectors Southbay where too long, Already have replacement on the way. Hopefully when I put everything back on I don't have any other leaks.

Also I did put RTV in between the block an manifold.

I had the same issue on my 89. I had to swap to a 85 plenum and all my vacuum leaks were gone

Thanks, For now I will try to block off the small runner on the driver side with JB weld, hopefully that will do it.
