T-5 Slipping
 

Car just started doing this, two weeks ago I could lay rubber easily. Now the clutch is slipping when I try to pull out hard. Only did a few (less than 3) burnouts. Could low fluid cause this? I haven't checked ever:doh:

um... I do not think low fluid would cause a manual to slip.. the part that would be slipping would be the clutch... and ussually that is due to a worn/burnt clutch, or some other problem related to the clutch assembly. Low pressure for the clutch pedal would just make it hard to get it in and out of gear. The lubracant in the transmission would not really play much a role in it i think.. because if something within the trans itself was slipping you would have to pull it appart and look over all the parts.. I have never heard of one slipping though due to internal failure (well.. other than if a gear is just gone) Could also be your flywheel surface, or preasure plate

You burned up the clutch.

It needs a new clutch.

Yep seen this one before...it was a friend of mine learning to do a burn out in his 305/t5 camaro. Revved it up rode the clutch out a little to slow and the tires smoked like a champ Unfortunatly at the same time so was his weak stock clutch. Two weeks later his clutch was slipping and needed a new one.i was willing to bet if he reved it up and dumped it he probaby wouldnt have needed one. Its the slow release at high rpms that eat them up fast.. generates way to much heat for them to hold so it chews them up.

Thanks guys, now its acting normal. Maybe I just rode the clutch a little too much when I noticed it. Also, when it did it, my revs didn't go up like a normal clutch slip. :thanks:
