damn..confused about speedo gears This should be so easy but I think I am missing something. When my pinion seal blew, I dissassembled my rear-end and discovered that I had a 3.42 open with 26 spline axles in a axle from an '89. Strange seeing that I am supposed to have 2.73, 28 spline open rear and I am the 3rd owner of this car (neither of the 2 previous owners know anything about a rear end swap and the 1st owner bought it at the dealership). Anyway, I had 3.23's installed and I need to swap speedo gears. All the calculators need to know your drive or driven gear teeth number to calculate the other. The truth is that I dont know either. I am riding on 245/50/16's. Whats the solution???????? |
Remove the speedo cover and see what color either gear is (drive or driven) - they are color coded - then you can get the other gear calculated. Tilt the car up from the rear to reduce the fluid loss. |
Do you have to know what one or the other is first? Or was there a standard drive or driven gear used on all gm f-bodies? |
take a look around this site 700R4, 700R4 Speedometer Gears, 4L60, 700R4 Speedometer Calibrations, 700R4 ! |
