4 cylinder iron duke to 350 crate engine? need advise!!
 

i have a 82 firebird with a 151 ci four cylinder, 4 speed maual. i want to put a 350 crate engine in. but im stumped on one topic!!! i do not have a hydrolic clutch if your familiar. my number one question is the pivoting arm for the clutch that is mounted from the left frame rail to the side of the engine block! where would i bolt that on the v8? also do i go and just purchase v8 motor mounts? i have a saginaw 4 speed. Do i need a different bell housing? im after 250 horse power i was told the current trans will handle the power? do i need a different engine harness? if anyone has a moment to reply i would apreciate it so much!!

I dunno Pontatack, I think the iron duke cars frames were made of tinfoil to save weight so the POS's would make it up hills... hahah

You can either rig up some kind of new z-bar to actuate the clutch, or buy a hydraulic setup. I rigged up my own hydraulic setup using a wilwood master cyl, a pivoting plate, a howe slave cyl and some hydraulic hose. $250 or so for all the bits.

If that tranny will work, you'll need a V-8 BH. You can buy a new lakewood one for $400 or something I think.

V-8 motor mounts - yes, you'll need that. you'll need a complete 350 engine, with accessories, etc etc.

There isn't really an engine "harness" in 1982 that's sophisticated enough to call a "harness". You'll only have a few accessories to wire up, so you can tweak your existing "harness" as you need to.
