T56 LT1 Clutch Questions

I am running a 95' LT1 T56 mated to my 2 piece rear main 4 bolt 350. I've gotten the car down to 8.51 @ 84.7 in the 1/8th with a 1.91 60' on g-Force Sport street tires. Any time I use some slicks, the tires grab, but forces the clutch to slip like mad. On the cooldown at the end of the track I smell nothing but clutch whenever I use the slicks, but if I use the street tires, obviously they burn instead of the clutch.

Question: I'm looking into different clutch options. I see Mcleod has their 500 series that some people use. The part I'm looking at is: McLeod RACING 261571. Currently, I have a stock LT1 clutch from Autozone in the car. PN: NU31265. It's the stock Duralast clutch replacement. Can I use the pressureplate (I believe it's the LT4 PP that all the aftermarket kits use) and all the rest from the Duralast kit with a Mcleod clutch disc and get away with a stronger grabbing clutch? Budget is the key, but I'm not going to cut corners if it won't work either. Thanks for your input.

Re: T56 LT1 Clutch Questions

Decided on a Spec Stage 4 6 puck solid hub disc. Will exchange my Duralast back to autozone for a warranty replacement.
