700R4 shifts hard when cold?
 

iv had this problem since iv changed my engine, when my cars cold it shifts really hard into second, it will go all the way up to 2200 RPM before shiffting and when it does it shifts hard but all the other gears after that are fine, but it really only happens at low speeds like under 30. but i noticed today that after it warms up it shifts like butter and like it use to before my engine swap. after its warm it shifts nice and smooth, low rpms, doesnt jerk or anything so im lost and need help.

Obvious question - after you changed engine did you the TV cable set properly?

yes. even read up on it online and did it while i had the laptop sitting on the plenum, its set to the t

Maybe your TCC solenoid is going on? Or maybe just a simple tranny flush with filter change wouldn't hurt either.

Iv got all new fluid in it, reason is, is that when I was pulling the old engine out I forgot 1 bellhousing bolt and drug the tranny forward and it ended up dragging the driveshaft out causing all the fluid to dump. Was going to replace the filter but had other issues come up. What's the tcc sensor?

Torque converter clutch solenoid. It allows or blocks fluid going into the servo that applies the torque converter clutch. It could be clogged up untill it gets warmed up enough to flow through better and what not.

You would have to take your trans pan off and drain all the oil. I found a forum where someone explained it better than I could, ill just paste the steps here and hope it helps. Im bad at naming parts i just know what they look like and do haha.

"First, you will have to jack up the car and drain the oil from the tranny, then remove the pan. Remove the filter. Usually the O-ring for the filter sticks into the front pump, if this is the case you will have to fish it out. There will be one or two pressure switches on the back of the valve body. One has one wire connecting to it and the other has two. The wires run along the valve body to the front of the transmission (note the position of these wires along the valve body, you will be taking these off and putting them back on) - this is the location of the solenoid (it plugs directly into the front pump). Two 10-mm head bolts hold it on - remove the bolts and pull the old solenoid straight out. Lubricate the o-ring on the new one with some tranny fluid (there should be plenty dripping off of the valve body you can use, lol) and plug it into the hole in the same orientation. Replace the two bolts and re-route the wires along the bottom of the valve body, plugging them back into the pressure switches at the back. Install a new filter and a new gasket and put the pan back on, throw in 3-4 quarts of fluid (don't overfill) and you should be back in business."
