454 to t56 flywheel and clutch setup?

just wondering what flywheel and what clutch linkage to use for this swap? seem a lot of guys ask this question but theres no definite answer? the t56 is from an lt1 car complete and the 454 is from an 86 k30

okay so my understanding is it has to be a 153 tooth flywheel for a 2 pc rear main seal engine?? then just use a balance plate or something?

so let me know what you guys think about using this flywheel:
RAM Automotive 1510-12

with this balance plate:

Summit Racing SES-3-60-11-026

Everything about the T-56 will bolt RIGHT UP to the 454; given the correct flywheel.

Don't know what the specific part #s you posted are; but if they're a neutral-balanced 12.8" 2-pc RMS T-56 "conversion" flywheel and a 454 "pork chop", then yes it should work.

Re: 454 to t56 flywheel and clutch setup?

The balance plate option can lead to issues with clutch release where the fork hits the pressure plate before the clutch releases.

Centerforce doesn't list all their available flywheels on their site, nor catalog so it's worth a few phone calls to them and other vendors to see what 454-balance compatible flywheels are out there but not on the internet.

okay gotcha. yeah i figured that balance plate could pose an issue in there since its tight already.. i'll give a few companies a call tomorrow and see what they have .

If your going to use a factory pull style LT-1 clutch then McLeod Clutches has a Pull Style flywheel for a 2pc rear seal motor. P/N 460370-3C for a 86 external balanced 454.

Sure. A couple things though.

The o.d. of the throwout bearing sleeve is smaller o.d. than a T5/T10/Muncie so you'll need to make sure it's the right size i.d. (Some sellers assume it'll just fit.)

The first one McLeod sold was thicker than the distance from the pressure plate fingers (of a third gen clutch) to the base of the throwout bearing sleeve at the front of the trans. I believe they revised theirs and there's 1 or 2 others out there. So do your research and measuring.

I'm curious about this too. I've tried looking up info on it and converting to it, but can't find much

i called mcleod and that flywheel posted above is the one you want. its for a 454 to bolt to the t56 using factory t56 clutch stuff. externally balanced 153 tooth.
