T5 issue I have a 91 305 t5 and 9 bolt rear. the car is a weekend car. a few years back i had replaced the clutch and had the trans serviced. the only issue with it then was the synchronizer. the trans would pop out of second gear sometimes. a few weeks ago i drove it a few hundred miles to a car show and back. i had no issues at all until i got off the interstate. there was a howling sound coming from the trans as i was shifting into gear. the sound would come and go. a few weeks later the sound comes back now and then and more often. the car shifts fine and i dont feel any slippage. i though at first it was the throwout bearing but im not sure. the sound is there when im pushing the clutch pedal in and out. fluid is good and there is no apperent damage that i can see. any ideas? |
Re: T5 issue Throwout bearings usually make a chirping sound, like crickets. I guess if it's really bad, it could turn into a howling noise, but I would think a problem with the gears would be the more likely cause. |
Re: T5 issue could be the countershaft bearing.. thats what happened to mine |
