700r4 tv cable help
 

The problem i am having with the cable is that i can set it correct for cruising but when i go to wide wot the cable ratchets out and the shifts are are no good.
The problem is that when is ratchets out the car has a bad 2-3 shift and they are short. I can set it right but like i said at wot the cable ratchets out. Is the cable too short?

I have the aed bracket and the cable corrector for the holley.

I ordered the tci universal cable maybe this will help?

Is there something wrong with trans?

I'm guessing you've set it correctly by pushing the button all the way in, then pulling the throttle all the way open?

When you sat ratchets out, are you meaning the cable pulls the adjuster out from where you had set it from?

Sounds like there is something wrong with either the bracket or the "geometry corrector" you have.

Changing the cable won't help. Especially not going to a "universal" one.

i have the correct brackets i think the cable is too short. How could something be wrong with the brackets? I have the bracket that goes on the carb which is the cable corrector. it goes out of adjustment at wot. i can move it back to original position and it works fine.

The piece you have on the carb is not the right one for your carb. Period.

If it was, there would be the correct relationship of throttle opening to TV cable extension at all times. This requires that the stud the TV cable attaches to be at the correct distance from the throttle shaft ("lever arm") and at the correct angle with respect to throttle opening, such that it is almost directly below the throttle shaft at idle, maybe just slightly rearward of that, and goes to almost directly toward the front when at WOT.

Given those correct relationships, then the distance the stud moves from idle to WOT will be the same distance that the linkage in the transmission is supposed to be moved. If that relationship is not right, as yours obviously isn't, then those 2 distances won't be equal. Furthermore the angle thing determines how much the cable gets moved during each part of throttle movement; such that as it comes off idle the cable gets pulled ALOT for each difference in throttle opening, but as it gets closer to WOT, the cable moves less and less.

Go read the link I gave you. Once you understand what the system is supposed to do and how it's supposed to work, you'll quit wasting Internet bandwidth arguing.

Changing the cable won't do any good. You need to get the right geometry corrector for your carb. Not just "a" geometry corrector; the RIGHT ONE FOR YOUR CARB.

Your description of what your setup is doing is ONLY explained by it being the wrong parts for your carb.

OK LET ME DO SOME MORE RESEARCH ON THE PART THAT I HAVE ON THE CARB. I ORDERED IT FROM JEGS MAYBE IT WAS PACKAGED WRONG.

Sofaking thanks for the help. I didnt need the right bracket at the carb i allready had it like i told you. The new cable that i ordered fixed it..
