88 automatic to T5 questions OK, I am certain that this has been covered probably 100 times but I cannot find it,grrr . I have done the search thing but didnt find what I am looking for, like I am old so take it easy on me,LOL. I have a 88 IROC LB9 automatic and have a big manual transmission urge. I found a complete set of T-5 parts and pieces taken from an 88 IROC at a real deal price. Trans, bellhousing, flywheel, clutch, pedals, slave and master cyl, plate for the console,boot, and bracket, all the same parts shown on Hawk's web site. 2 questions, One- Is there a comprehensive swap information thread on the site? All I can find is parts and pieces of information. Or is it so simple that no instruction is needed? Two- What about the ECM? any issues to deal with? Thanks inadvance |
Re: 88 automatic to T5 questions The chip will need to be programmed for the manual. The hardest part of the swap for most is cutting the holes in the firewall and the floor. Also rewiring the backup lights, neutral safety switch and the cruise control. Other then those its a bolt it deal. I believe there are several start to finish threads members have posted for the t5 but I dont know of any Stickys on the subject. |
