i have a opportunity to buy a ford 9inch assembled working posi for a qood deal

I want to know if its possible to get it on my 88 gta

what do I need to do to make it fit

I have a built 383 and t56 I have a 9 bolt posi 3.27 its working

A lot of cutting and welding to get the correct suspension brackets on it, and wheels with the correct bolt pattern. Some of this depends on what the rear end came out of.

all I know is its drum brakes and 3.50 posi

the guy said it was going on a c10 project

You need to find out what it came from. Probably a Ford truck. If it is then one side will need to be cut down and you will have to make mounts for the torque arm. You will have to transfer all of the brackets from a 3rd gen rear end to the 9 inch. The axle tubes are not the same size, so the brackets will have to be modified. Your wheels will not fit the axles. It's a lot of work. I haven't seen one Traction Lock from a Ford truck that had good clutches in it. They almost always need to be rebuilt.

Best bet, pick up a Moser housing/axle package and use your third member. If yours is 31sp you'll be set. If it's 28sp I would recommend upgrading it too. Yes, there are kits for the torque arm you can weld on and get the brackets from another rear but for all it takes just to install a 9" I think the housing is worth the $$. You'll also need to decide on what brakes you are going to use and have the rear set up for them. I used my stock 9 bolt PBR calipers and rotors but had to fabricate my own brackets. It was a little extra work but using the stock brakes and ebrakes avoided another variable.
