Noise, rear end

Hard to explain but sounds like whoomp, whoomp..rotational sound, increases with speed of course. Put on jack stands put in drive and used stethoscope with no luck in duplicating the sound. Only when in drive and on the ground. 1991, Z28 350 and don't recall which rear end. Any suggestions and help is greatly appreciated.

Probably a 7½" 10-bolt. Virtually for certain.

Probably axle bearings. Pop the axles out and check. Since the axle is the inner bearing race, if the bearings are bad, the axles are almost certainly bad too.

We replaced the Axles, ended up being bearings in the diff, so had it rebuilt. Again, thank you!
