Just purchased a Yukon DURAGRIP posi from Quick Performance for my 1984 T/A. The RPO code for the rear is GU5. Car came from factory with an open rear.
Will have it installed in near future.
Anyone know how rear gear oil 80W90 conventional lube is required to fill the rear pot to the level/fill hole? I have posi lube to add.

A TRUTRAC should not use POSI LUBE. It is all gear , no clutches.

Me wrong. It is a DURAGRIP Clutch type .

Use either 1 bottle of the GM additive, or 2 bottles/tubes of the parts store kind. Put that in first and then add the fluid.

It'll take between 1½ & 2 quarts of fluid. Add ONLY to the level of the stock fill plug. You can just stick a piece of ¼" hose on the bottle spout and skweeeeeze it in. Any more than that does no real good, and the tubes will just be full of fluid all the time, and it'll leeeeeek ruthlessly out the axle seals.

I have owned three gm cars in the past with posi's - '70 chevelle, '81 Cutlass, '72 Buick GS.
Some mechanics state that they like to fill the rear pot to within 1/4 inch of the fill hole.

Used to be, I think it's more now. Closer to $500 US. Such as https://www.summitracing.com/parts/yga-26018 It's largely an Eaton clone; not exactly, but think of it as, what you'd come up with, if you were pretty good at this sort of thing, and you reverse-engineered an Eaton.

And yes, what you've heard from the old-timers about the fill level, is probably not far wrong. Given of course that most of the time, when you're filling one up, it's not exactly in the "operating" location; as the rear articulates, the fill plug moves up or down with respect to where it will be when the car is just driving down the road; so yeah, there's not one "exact" "right" fill level. Some degree of judgment is called for.

Yes. Apparently, as stated by them - "That is a Yukon Duragrip. We ship the same unit under part number YDGGM7.5-3-26-SM".

I contacted the mechanic who will be installing the Yukon posi and I decided to allow him to purchase all the wheel seals and carrier bearings bearings.
Saves me a lot of hassle crossing the border to Detroit & Windsor. Total of $17 cdn using credit card. No cash accepted anymore
