Aussie 9 bolt diff internals were orange?

Who knew the inside of the Aussie 9 bolt rears was orange? I've never been inside of an Australian model. Pretty neat. I'm guessing the yellow marking with text was the person who built it at the factory?

Looks to have painted with Glyptal.

Yup, one of the most common forms of the Glyptal company's products. 1201A to be specific. Looks like whoever took that pic had painted the pumpkin with it, and then smeared that yellow gear marking compound on the ring, and scribed that hand-written number in it. How quaint. ;)

I doubt ANY of that is "factory".

Odd. I called the original owner this evening (whom I got the car from) and he explicitly said nope, never been worked beyond fluid changes.

Meaning, S/HE never "worked". Not necessarily that the rear hasn't been "worked" though.

Didn't come like that.

Nice gears though. Not "the best" maybe, butt, pretty nice.

The Glyptal was applied at the Borg-Warner Factory.
It's Stock.

They were not as cheap as GM, Ford, or Chrysler.

Also note the 4 Spider-Gears instead of the typical/ Common 2 being used.
A Relatively simple and inexpensive way to distribute Load better, and add Strength.

Yep, I've met a few others that have the same thing from the factory. Apparently it was an 88 and up thing? Most of the folks with 86-87 are not orange inside? Or was it only o n the 3.45 cars?

Pretty amazing. I've never seen one that had that from the factory. But of course, I haven't seen near "all" that there ever were. ;)

My 1986 FireBird with 3.27:1 Gears came with it.

I don't really remember seeing any without it... not sure.
