Is there a stock converter with a higher stall speed i can use for my 700r-4? I was wondering if anybody knew if there is a stock torque converter that has a higher stall speed that can be used in a 84 700r-4.Does the converter that comes in v-6 applications stall at a higher r.p.m. then v-8 applications, and how about the 700r-4's that came in corvettes?Do they stall at a higher speed? Does anybody know where one can be ordered,Have part #'s,e.t.c.? |
Here is a link that talks about different stall speed converters for 700's with 30 spline input shafts. You're going to have to take the trans out and look at the input before you buy a converter because they changed input spline count in the middle of '84. There is no way to tell which input you have without taking the trans out and the converter off. http://www.theherd.com/articles/torque.html |
from what i have heard an astro aka ahole van convertor is higher as well as having a heavier duty clutch in the torque convertor(i've heard this, not from experience) so it supposidly holds up better |
The stock Astro converter is NOT higher than a stock F-body converter. Read the article. I have the S-10 converter mentioned there and it stalls around 2100-2200 in my van. |
