Size thread on tranny cooling ports?

I need to know what size thread the two ports for the tranny cooler are. Are they NPT, or what, and what size? I need to make some custom lines for my tranny cooler. Also, in kinda a related question, how can you tell what size AN fittings you have, the -3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 rating, cuz i have two fittings like that on the tranny cooler, and I need to know what size to put on the tranny side...Thanks.

Cooler fittings on the transmission and the radiator should be 5/16 inverted flare. Your tranny cooler is probably 1/2 NPT or -06 AN. Aeroquip makes a 5/16 inverted flare to -06 AN fitting you can use, but I don't remember the part number.

Can you PLEASE help me with finding the fittings I need. I looked up AN fitting and started reading about adaptors and such and it's all GREEK to me! LOL. Here's a pic of my current setup, you can see the AN fittings sticking out of the tranny cooler. Now I want to make some nice lines to go to the transmission. Can someone help with what I need as far as speicific parts, even if the piece that goes to the tranny isn't AN, it's fine, I just want it to get connected lol.http://home.attbi.com/~markolc/Grill_tranny_cooler.jpg

If the fittings on the cooler are -6 AN, you'll need enough -6 hose to get from each fitting on the cooler to the transmission, four -6 AN hose ends, and two 5/16 inverted flare to -6 AN adapters.

How do you tell if the fittings I have are -6AN, is there a way to measure?

Apeiron 02-24-2002 05:13 PM

The hole inside the fitting should be about 1/4" if it's -6.
