Getting ready to start the next project car...

Okay guys it looks like I'll start on the next camaro project within the next month or so. It is a 2.8 v6 1986 Sport coupe. I will be putting in a used 2.8 v6 that I got cheap and getting it on the road. After that the project could go one of two ways
1. I could fix it up to stock appearance
2. I could get of Ground effects and wheels off a 84 Z-28 really dirt cheap (Free) and make it a Z-28 clone

Either way it's going to be painted the original Gunmetal gray with Black rockers. So what should I do??

Since you do not have the stock motor I would make it a Z28 clone witha LT1 or LS1 setup... Make it look like a 84Z 28, but when you pop the hood let it scream 2002....

I will keep my 2.8 for nostiliga..

heck with it, go all out.

Make it a Z28 clone, that way you will ride in style.

Bring it back to stock and send me over those free wheels
hehe
If you can get the engine and rear end, go for the z28

If you can get the stuff for free, why not? Personally, tho, I'd leave off the Z28 badges.

Yes, leave the Z28,RS badges off the car. Even though the CAMARO badges for the rocker panel have been discontinued you can still make them ;) All you have to do is get the black piece of plastic that the Z28 logo is attached too, seperate the emblem from the black piece of plastic. Then buy the rear bumper emblem with the CAMARO lettering. Cut the bowtie off and then you will be able to put the CAMARO emblem into the black plastic piece and wallala you will have the CAMARO emblem for the rocker panels.

return it to stock or replace the six with a eight. Or better yet put the eight in and live the ground effects off so you have a mad sleeper

Well it looks like I'm pulling some ground effects tonight!!  Thanks for the opinions and I'll keep everyone posted how this proceeds (Project Z-2.8):D . Anyway there are a couple of interesting points that everyone brought up that I would like to address individually

Brian K. -- I like the suggestion on putting a LT1/LS1 in it. However, that's just not in my budget due to home repairs, wife, life in general. I already am lucky enough to have my "baby" (1970 GTO). All of the work on Camaros is practice for the day I restore the goat back to showroom (or better) condition. I already bought a used, running 2.8 to replace the original one. Basically I would have to sell the GTO to procure all of the stuff to put an LS1/LT1 in the camaro. Nah, Can't part with my baby:nono:

phix919 -- The engine/trans is already spoken for by the guy who bought this Z. I would have loved to get the whole car before this guy got to it but it's pretty well dead (long story). My 86 is currently riding on some non-stock 14" Cutlass rims. I kind of need the Z-rims. Also the rear is a pegleg unit so I doubt it'd do me any good to swap it out.

Bluerocket -- I'd have to get an eight first and that could run some $$$; more than I have. plus I'd have to change the trans, and wiring and alot of other stuff to do that so unfortunately the constraints are too much to overcome

The badges will be coming with me but whether or not they make it to the finished product remains to be seen

Thanks guys!!!!

Mind if I borrow that?

Mind if I use the idea and expand it to IROC Z-2.8 ? I have been wanting to make my '88 look like an IROC? Would that be sacrolicous?

Sure be my guest. I just came up with it an hour ago so no copyright infringement here:D !!! Good luck with the project (just don't let the other boards see it -- I think some members could take offense):bs:
