Why's it running so rough?? I've put up with this problem way too long, and I need some help!! When I start my car in the morning, it fires right up, and idles decent (for a 2.8 anyways https://www.thirdgen.org/messageforum3/smile.gif) When I plop it in drive and give it very light throttle, it bogs down, doesn't wanna move for a second or two, then fires right off and is normal all day! Any ideas why it does this? It never stalls...just bogs every time. ------------------ Jason E '89 Camaro RS 2.8 Medium Grey Metallic/700R4, T-tops Hypertech chip, 2 K&N filters/Modded air box Eclipse CD, Eclipse 100x4 amp, Polk 4x6 fronts, Boston RX 6x9 rears Alpine Alarm w/ Keyless entry IROC tailights |
i think its normal...TomP responded before when i asked about it and he said to let the fuel pump go for a sec before u start the car (turn to on let the pump go then start it) it helped a bit ------------------ 89 RS 305 TPI... Previous: 2.8 s/c'd firebird |
I agree with Graeme, when i start my bird, i turn the engine to on first, you'll hear the fuel pump push gas to the engine, and after you here that stop, fire it up. Most engines will have a quick hesitation when first started anyway, think about it, it's their first time starting in hours. |
I totally agree that it makes sense to let the pump run...but this is even after I let the car idle for up to 30 seconds sometimes. Shouldn't that give the fuel pump enough time to work properly? |
My 2.8 does the same thing. When it's cold it'll start but if you don't gas it it'll die after about 3-5 secs. I have to restart it about 3 times before it'll idle. Mine has the hesitation when you put it in drive too. I'm gonna try the fuel pump thing w/ mine. I heard the 2.8's are bad for cold start hesitation anyway. ------------------ 1986 Berlinetta, 2.8L, newly rebuilt 700R4, 3.42 Posi. 127,000 miles and counting. I've come to realize that I'm gonna have this car till it pukes for good, b/c I'll never be able to bring myself to sell it. |
