Of valve covers and rocker arms. So, when the topic of aftermarket rocker arms comes up, invariably advice pops up stating that fiero valve covers will be a necessity. However, a web search I did today revealed the following: http://members.shaw.ca/betterthanyou.../gtvcovers.htm Here's the pertinent part: Fiero covers have less underside clearance than the stock covers, so if you have large roller rockers you may have to clearance them or the valve covers so they wont hit. I know that this page is speaking about s10's, but it definitely raised my eyebrows. So, here is my question: does anyone have any practical experience with placing aftermarket rocker arms (specifically comp cams 1.52 and 1.6 to 1 ratio) underneath both stock and fiero valve covers, or is this one of those myths that seems to get repeated because INTERNET? Thanks in advance. |
Re: Of valve covers and rocker arms. I used to have Comp Cams 1.52 roller tip rockers under stock valve covers with no issues. Just my .02 |
Re: Of valve covers and rocker arms. As someone who's read a lot on here, they should fit. I've never heard from anyone with clearance problems, just rumors that only fiero covers work... |
Re: Of valve covers and rocker arms. ive used comp 1.6 roller tips under stock steel valve covers without issues |
Re: Of valve covers and rocker arms. Okay, awesome, that's helpful. Can you guys share what sort of cams you were running with those rocker arms, or at least the valve lift prior to adding the rocker arms? I'm a measure twice and cut it once kind of guy. |
Re: Of valve covers and rocker arms. I was running a Melling MTC-5 cam. |
