Polished my wheels

3 Attachment(s)
Found an extra set of wheels of my gals 91 RS Vert. They were just laying around in the garage. I was a little bored and so I took out my tools and just played around with the wheels.

First I sanded the wheel (not the center cap) with 800 grit on my palm sander, to remove the clear coat ( these are extra wheels so really didn't care about the outcome ). On my second wheel I used stripper to remove the clear coat (but it was too cold outside this time..lol)

Second I sanded the wheel by hand with 1000 grit sand paper.

Third I rubbed on some rubbing compound and let dry for about 30 mins.

Then I used my palm sander again with a buffing pad on it and took it to the wheel.

Then I used some miracle wheel polish I got at a motorcycle show and rubbed in on and buffed it off with the palm sander.

Then I rubbed on some "Neverdull" and removed it with a polishing wheel on my drill. The results were pretty cool.

Then I sanded the center cap with 1000 grit sand paper by hand in the same direction. Afterwards I used some 3m rubbing compound again and buffed it out with the palm sander. then I used the wheel polish and buffed it out with the palm sander. All this did not remove any of the decals on the center cap. Afterwards, I used the Neverdull and polished it off with the drill. The results are in the pics. Did not do anything to the outer rim yet, but will do so later.

Let me know what you guys think. I still have to put on the protectant coat, no big deal. Going to try to slip these back on my gals car without her knowing so I can get my wheels back lol.. They look much better in person.

Yep, only worked on it for like 2 hrs. I want to do a wheel a day. I have two Thirds ( a 91Z and a 91RS vert) I work for the railroad and got called for work or I would of been at it all day. I plan to shoot the innards gun metal grey. Found some mint high back cloth seats from a 2001 Trans Am at a junk yard that'll go real nice with my polished wheels..
