largest tire on stock 15x7 rim anyone fit bf goodrich radial t/a's size 275/60-15 on a stock 15x7 rim.. that is a 28 inch tire x 10.5 width (6.5 inch sidewall ) for rear tires obv.. |
Re: largest tire on stock 15x7 rim 3 Attachment(s) It would balloon the sidewalls pretty bad. Would it fit? yes. Would it be a safe fit? not quite. I have that same size tire on my 15x8's in the rear, 4.5" BS. Also I have a 9-bolt rear end. |
Re: largest tire on stock 15x7 rim whats BS on stock rims? |
Re: largest tire on stock 15x7 rim 1 Attachment(s) I did it about 10 years ago, both on the '85 TA wheels and then on a set of "Center Line" knockoffs from American Racing that were the same size. Yes, they fit, however some people recommend against it. Yes there was a bit of sidewall bulge, but I didn't have any issues with it. Hopefully you can see in this pic, but it's one of only a few pictures that I have left of that car. |

Re: largest tire on stock 15x7 rim Not a bad tire size for a car that sees the track allot. But if the engine does not have sufficient HP with a decent gear ratio and a posi. unit than I would think twice about doing it. A decent and respectable size tire for that wheel would be a 255/60r15. |
Re: largest tire on stock 15x7 rim Yeah, front and rear were 15x7, can't remember the backspacing off the top of my head but it was the same as the stock backspacing for that size wheel. Front tires were 215/60/15, rear were 275/60/15. |

Have had 255/60-15 size on the rear of my 91 RS with 15 x 7 factory 5 spoke wheels, 80mph Detroit to Minneapolis both ways and over 100 at the strip. No problems , yes they do bulge a bit but I like the look, dropping my rear wheels off at Weldcraft in the Detroit area to increase the backspacing 2" soon. Put them on, I think you will like them, I also think the 275's will be a bit big. I have 235/60-15 's on the front Good luck Roy |
Re: largest tire on stock 15x7 rim Hears what the 235/60r15 front tire on a 7in wheel and 255/60r15 on a 8in. rear wheel looks like. Your 7in. rear wheels will cause the tires to bulge a little more but this gives you a look at the diameter of both and why I say a respectable size rear tire. The fronts are 26in. diameter and the rear is 27in diameter. As you "can" see in the side photo. Besides that's as large as I would go. http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800...8/12408100.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800...1/rearend1.jpg http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800x600q90/19/517g.jpg |
Re: largest tire on stock 15x7 rim You really don't want to go wider than a 225 tire on a 7" wide wheel - the tire sidewall starts to balloon out and your handing will get sloppier. BMW sticks 225 tires on an 8" wheel for sidewall stability and confident handling - no one will ever fault them for cutting corners in that respect. |
Re: largest tire on stock 15x7 rim 235/60/15 looks perfect on our stock 15x7 wheels imo. |
