28x13.5 radials on weld RTS 15x11.33? Trying to get a feel for what wheel sizing will work out nice on my car before I start welding. My 9" housing is narrowed 2" per side. I will be mini-tubbing the rear end (likely the wolfe racecraft pieces for 4th gens) My LCA's will be moved inboard as far as necessary, as will my rear coilovers. The main goal was to run a more nostalgic muscle car backspacing (think 15x10, 4.5" bs) which I probably could have done without minitubs and lca relocation, but with the rust in my wheelhouses, the minitubs are happening regardless, so why not go with a wider wheel? I really like new Weld RTS S76, but they don't have the specs out yet, so going with the S71 specs it looks like they offer a 15x11.33 with 5.5" bs, which would essentially put the wheel just .33" farther out than guys running a 15x10 6.5" bs. So far so good... I will be running drag radials. I won't be able to bolt up my GTA crosslaces to the narrowed housing. MT ET Street 28x13.5 R15 look like they would fit the bill. Since the tires are a little wider compared to the wheels, I think I'll end up with my tires sticking out another .5" compared to your typical 15x10-6.5 setup. How do you guys think that will look? I bet I'd probably need to roll the fenders, but can I get away with the wheel that close the the fender without having to grow a mu11et? |

Something to think about when you order tires, I`m currently running 29x11.50 LT hoosier quick time pros...that is dot sizing. I run them on a 10 inch rim, the advertised section width is 11.9 But, that is on a measured rim of 8 inches. To calculate the section width change on a different size rim than the factory measured wheel use .4 inches PER inch of rim increase. or subtract for rim decrease Example: My QTPs on a 8 inch rim would be a 11.9 section width but because I use a 10 inch rim it would be like this... 11.9 + .4 + .4 = 12.7 section width. Re: 28x13.5 radials on weld RTS 15x11.33? My strategy wouldn't change much if I wanted to run 325 Hoosier R6's, aside from wheel choice. I believe 86 T/A has a similar overall tire size, but with stock rear end width and offset LCA's so he avoided most of the fab work I had to do. Its a lot of work for the gain, but I really wanted a bit more of a dish to the wheels than most third gens can get away with. |

Re: 28x13.5 radials on weld RTS 15x11.33? im runing the same tire 325 50 15 on welds rts 10.275 15 6.5 back space no bump stops. and lca with offset bushings. I also had to move the iner fenders in 2" to 3" inch to clear side walls alot more then just cutting bumpstops off. all the inside wall is now right up to the inside plastic. but they are all under the car.. when i had my 9" made for my car.if i planed better i would have done the same and taken 2" off ea side...:imo: |

Re: 28x13.5 radials on weld RTS 15x11.33? 2 Attachment(s) like the way it looks on yours. mine sits even with the upper lip. its under but just.. iv done every thing to the back now but back half it... maby nexed.$15.000 to$18.000. will take it on a 5 hr tow to art Morrison. and drop it off...lol this year was rear coil overs up from the GC wt jacks (never installed them) up graded before that..lol the shape of the MT Sportsmen makes it tuck under more. as the foot print is just under 11" and the MT Drag Radial is just round at the footprint making it 13" wide. tires layed on there side are the same width/high.but this pics make them look way bigger Attachment 335025 the radials are 1" shorter also at 28" tall and the sportsmen at 29" tall Attachment 335026 |
