Upgrading to C6 Front Brakes with C6 Wheels what spacer to use?

I currently have the C6 wheels mounted to the front with the stock disc brakes using a hub-centric 2" spacer, works great. I just got the C6 brake setup from bigbrakeupgrades and am looking forward to installing. However I just read on another post that perhaps a 1.5" spacer is required with C6 wheels and brakes. Thought I would verify in a separate post if this is true? Do I need a smaller spacer like 1.5" or will there be an issue with the 2" spacer pushing the wheels out too far?

I ran c6 5 spoke wheels for years with c6 z06 brakes and a 2" spacer. No issue that a small hammer didn't fix (which would've been worse with a smaller spacer. I can't fathom how weird a 1.5" spacer would look, and if it would even fit without the wheels contacting the inner fenderwells?

You have hubcentric or lug centric spacers?

I use hub centric spacers. I just went and measured the stock hat vs the C6 brake hat, it appears to be about .5" difference. I have the 1.5" spacer on order. I will test fit them with both the 1.5 and the 2" and see which works best. Scott from BBU recommended 1.7" to have stock config. My car is to cherry to clearance with a hammer lol. I would rather get it right with the correct amount of back space which right now I have with the stock brakes. Thanks for the info though. I always like the rake and profile of your car.

You're saying your brake rotor is a half inch thick at wheel mounting flange? Or that both of them together are half inch?

Let me step back a second. I run 305 width tires so a hammer/grinder/welder is almost required to make them fit. It isn't a matter of getting the correct back spacing, I just have wide wheels and like to run the wheel face flush with the fender lip. With a 1.5" spacer it might fit fine, just tucked under more than I'd like. Which might be your preference.

I'd like to see the difference in spacers. You should post pictures. Would be interesting.

Measuring the difference thickness of the rotor hats for which the spacers mount against. See below. Preference is the wheels and tires to have the same profile as OEM other car examples shown for reference to C6 wheels on Thirdgen with stock brakes.

LOL you definitely have me tweaking on this now. Now I'm thinking the 2" spacers will be too small. I will have to test fit them and see where the wheel ends up at. I will definitely report back on what the correct spacing is...it might be that the 2" spacers are fine. I haven't received the 1.5" spacers yet so I can always return them if the 2" look good.

:lmao:
Sorry man, didn't mean to throw a wrench in the mind machine.

I was thinking about that half inch much differently. I thought you meant the thickness of the rotor at the hat, where is slides over the lug studs. As in, the additional thickness of the hat at the wheel mounting flange. That's the measurement that would actually increase your track width. I see that measuring the hat height like to you did can get you close to the same end results but, to me, it's a much more roundabout way to get there. Depending on the design of the rotor, and the thickness of the disc itself you might see differing amounts since the caliper mounts in a different plane than the OE one does. If you measure the thickness of the hat itself that would be the amount you'd subtract from the spacer size to put the wheel in the same place it was before the brake upgrade. The c6 rotor hat thickness pushes the wheel out (I think it's something like ~1/4"?) and the smaller spacer pulls it back in. Am I explaining that understandably? Either way, you have all the pieces on the way to figure it out. Sometimes it's just easier to get all the legos in front of you and play until you get what you want!

Incidentally, Those wheel fitments are much more sunken in that I would choose for my car(nothing wrong with that, just preference) Which is why I usually say at least 2", if not 2.25" spacer. But that's just an opinion and it would put the wheel face flush with the fender and not slightly inside the fender like you currently have them.

So you were spot on! The 2" spacers continue too work perfect up front with the C6 wheels and brakes. The front wheels are in perfect track with the rears from the outside edges. Huge difference with the brakes and wheels over stock.

Glad it worked out! That's a beautiful car. I ran that exact setup for quite awhile, PBRs, 2" spacer and c6 wheels.
