+1 for the Sawzall. I have gotten my money's worth out of a few of them between home and auto work.

Re: Period Correct Aftermarket Engine Parts

Maybe emotion is clouding their judgement lol. Seriously, the market might be too small to jump back in though. What is the possibility that the tooling for the parts exists anymore?

Re: Period Correct Aftermarket Engine Parts

Maybe because the Firehawk was a money pit? They probably lost a bunch of money on it and never recouped the investment in the aftermarket parts.

Re: Period Correct Aftermarket Valve Covers

I had them powder coated. they were originally black, but sitting in my basement for 20 years took its toll on the finish. The silver is actually powdercoat as well, and not polished. Not sure how...

Re: 86 CT-350 ?

Looks like a dealer threw some cheap stripes on a v6 base model. Even the lettering looks like something you would buy in Home Depot to put your address on your mailbox.

I have to go through my old computer to find a pic or get the car out to take a pic. It has to get inspected, so it will be out soon. But I will get one.

Re: Camaro's bringing big money, where are the TAs?

The Formula is the underdog - probably the best looking Firebird and the lightest with all the performance goodies.

Re: Camaro's bringing big money, where are the TAs?

Trans Ams might be a good buy but the market never seems to hit for the third gen TA. Even the TTA, which was a limited edition never seems to climb in value. It has definitely gone up in value since...

Re: Camaro's bringing big money, where are the TAs?

The values aren't there like some of the Camaros have been bringing, but the following is still there. I go to a lot of Mustang shows and they are well attended. And the Fox body era is well...

Re: Camaro's bringing big money, where are the TAs?

I am going to respectfully disagree with you. If you wanted to buy a car and take it to the track, and go fast for cheap in the 80's, it was the Mustang. A few cheap mods put them in low 13's. high...

Re: Camaro's bringing big money, where are the TAs?

Say what you want about the Fox Mustang, the following is huge, there are a ton of parts available, and the following is bigger then a third gen anything. That car brought back the pony car era.

Re: Camaro's bringing big money, where are the TAs?

While that my be true, the Mustang outsold the Camaro back in the 80's, and has a bigger following today. The Ford Nationals draws a huge crowd of Mustangs. The place is literally packed with...

Re: If they still offered 245/50/16 Gatorbacks, would you buy them?

A little too rounded on the ends. The gatorback was more squared off. But the tread is definitely a copy.

Re: FS NOS Conv. Front Top latches

The owner you sold that car to lived in NJ IIRC. He had the screen name Andre#4 over on the turbotransam message board. Kind of a kook. He stiffed some people out of money and disappeared.

Re: T-Top bar, is there a difference depending on year?

The 85-92 cars did not have the plastic trim around the t top edge, therefore the t top bar is a little thinner to compensate for the thinner t top. It will work though.

I bought my 82 TA when I was in High school in 1989. I remember seeing the 20th anniversary TA that year and wanting one. It took me another 21 years to get it.
