I've never seen any convertables. Now 1987-92 F-Body convertibles were produced in far fewer numbers than the coupes, but I have seen plenty and even own one.
OK, yes, I'm having a little fun with the mispelling of the word. It is just that I'm hyper-sensitive to it being spelled incorrectly.
I've seen a list of poduction numbers. I thought it was on this site. I'll have to try and locate it.

There were 744 made in 1987, one of which I own. 20th Anniversary Edition. I have a LT1 sitting in the garage awaiting a transplant, hopefully this summer I'll be going around topless again!

Here's my baby, hopefully she'll be getting a total restoration in the near future. I've owned her since new (I special ordered the car in late '88, it's an '89 RS.) If I ordered it with the Iroc package, my insurance would have gone through the roof, and would have been impossible for me, then 18, to even dream of affording!! Gotta love the NJ insurance rates!

OK, I decided to make an exception and let this one post be a Convertable picture/information post, so it will stay at the top. Everything else on this board aside from this topic has to be Tech though, so if you want to post pictures or information about your car, do it here. Since it's all one post, try and keep it to a 2 picture maximum for each person from here on.

She's driven like she was made to be driven - hard and fast.

OUCH, Fredo, I can't remember when that happened. Tweak the frame at all?
Is it fixed alread? I thought this was somthing recent.
Here's my problem from when the previous owner (some people on here know him) let a guy drive it through a barb-wire fence at 120.

I told them it would be cheaper for them to let me fix it than to pay out on the reciepts.

Good job. My front K member (the one you gave me) sits in my frame a lil crooked, so I have to get the frame straightened just a tad. The frame shop said it shouldn't take maybe 1 or 2 hours, but 4 or 5 max.

Nice & Neat
Guys,
Since this post is a sticky showing others are ragtops, I'm going to allow only pics and a short description of the car. I want this post to be as neat as possible, without any tangential conversation. I will be editing the above posts soon to "clean it up". Wanted to give a heads-up before I do so, so no one will wonder what happened to their post(s) / pic(s).

Well, I assume you are reffering to me posting multiple times in the post about different things about my car that people asked for. If you're going to edit and remove stuff in posts just because you don't like the way it's formatted, then I will go back to posting on other message boards. I'm not too keen on the **** moderator style over here anyway. I guess the info I have on verts can be put to use elsewhere.

When I bought my bird, it was in about the same condition as TPl383's. It had been wrecked into a pole right in the middle and we had to replace the doghouse, fenders, hood, and facia. After being wrecked, it was driven some more then finally reposessed by a friend of the families. He called and sold it to me a day later for $500 at the tender age of 14.
Now, three years and about 1000 mowed lawns later, here she is.

My Toy!
Here is a pic of my toy. She has come a long way in the last 18 months. I bought her from a co-worker who wound up with it in a divorce and I've been working on it ever since. When I bought her she was pretty sad. Bad paint, Bad Top, Woreout interior, Cheap tires on the stock rims which were pretty beat up. The motor ran good but there were a host of little nagging problems to fix... I just did the exhaust work. Next will come a new intake and TBI probably next fall. I doubt I will do any other work to the LO3 except drive it. One day when the motor fails Iwill replace with a better performer.
I was very happy to see that I was not the only "deviant" who had replaced the standard black top with a buckskin colored one. I did that b/c I thought the buckskin color would reflect more heat in those South Georgia Summers than the ole black would... Of course when the top is down it doesn't matter!

1991 vert...
currently, it has the stock L03, but i have a 400 SBC, dart iron eagle heads, aftermarket solid roller cam setup, 3.42 posi rear and a eaton supercharger all ready to go in there...
the only thing im waiting on is putting a T56 in there... because if i put that motor infront of the 700R4, id blow it up.
i know 3s the limit... so more pics here: http://josh.swoca.net/board/mrdude/Vertpics/Pics.htm
story on the car (as far as ive typed online)
the search:
i spent about two and a half months looking for a clean 91-92 Camaro convertible. After all that time, i find this nice black 91. everything i want, i test drove it, it was great. the dealer wanted too much. so i went home and thought about it. the next day i decide to get it. i call the dealer, only to find it sold right after i left yesterday! damn. so i goto the motorcycle shop i usually hang out at... a friend there reminded me the new autotrader comes out today.. so i go across the street and pop in the local 7-11.. i thumb thru it, and there she is.
the cars history:
the story of the car started back in 90. this older gentalman ordered the car from the dealership. he got pretty much every option you could want. he took excelent care of the car for a few years, then for reasons not told to me, he stopped driving it.. it remained parked in his garage for the next several years.
after that time, he took it to his local chevy dealership, and had it brought back from storage. everything on the car has always been GM or AC delco. he had everything done by the dealer. after getting the car back he drove it for only a short while before he realized that he just couldnt take the hassle of getting in and out of it. hes a older gentalman with either a artificial hip, or hip surgery (not sure) and he just couldnt get in and out of it.. so with a heavy heart he sells it to some guy..
this guy buys the car for his wife and two kids (kids roughly 6 and 8). he works at Firestone, so the car gets new Firestone firehawks (worse tires ever) and new brakes. he gives it to his wife, only to discover that the kids dont fit in the back.. there is no way this will work out for her as a daily driver with the kids.
he doesnt even have the title in his name yet, but he puts the car in auto trader. this is when i meet him. being leery of buying a car thats not in the guys name, i talk to the old man and orignal owner of the car. he not only tells me of the info, but tells me that in the spare tire well, he stuck the orignal papers for the car.. everything was there....except they had remained in the tire well, and the rain had gotten them soaking wet.. they were all stuck together. so i can read some of it, but most is unlegable.

Oh what the hell, here's mine:
It's currently off the road for the winter, and hopefully, if everything works out, before it goes back on in April/May it will be repainted GM Ultra Metallic blue with full tan interior, including 4th gen dash and door panels, and a tan top....Hopefully.
