LS1 Swap/ Now I can't figure out the windshield wiper motor wiring

I was wondering if anyone knew of a definitive solution to wiring up the stock windshield wiper motor after an LS1 swap. I have an 1986 IROC. I did an LS1/4l60e, dash, fuel tank, wiring harness, interior swap from a 99 TA. I did a search on here and saw someone suggested switching the windshield wiper motor switch (the part in the steering column that the multi-function lever connects to) to one from an IROC. I never saw for sure if this would work. I was wondering if anyone had experience or suggestions for wiring up the stock 86 wiper motor to the newer wiring harness. Thanks.

If you've got all the 4th gen wiring, why not switch to a later 3rd gen wiper and use that directly?

I used a 89 Nissan Maxima Windshield wiper motor... Wired it in just to run on the low setting but it takes up NO room and is a direct bolt in .... except for one bolt hole you need to drill and put bolt/nut on.

Re: LS1 Swap/ Now I can't figure out the windshield wiper motor wiring

I'm not sure if you can see it very well in this video but I can also take some pictures of it at home this weekend if you need me to...
It bolts right in pretty much and is 1/4 of the size of that monster GM put in there...
My V6 would not fit in there!!! I doubt this LS would have fit with stock wiper motor.
Why did they make it so huge? Have to wipe away 12lb snow? Lol

Thanks, guys. Sounds like both those ideas are easy enough. I truly appreciate your responses.

Interesting... Why did you wire it only on low? Is it possible to install with original thirdgen wiring and have intermittent along with lo/hi settings?

I used a 4th gen washer bottle, so I was able to remove the pump, which bought a decent amount of room back there. I ran power wires for the 4th gen pump up into the original pump cavity, and I planned to shave the housing cover and finish it off that way. But this nissan idea has me curious.

I have A 4th gen column and a functioning 3rd gen wiper motor. The stick in the column needs to be changed to a 3rd gen.

Re: LS1 Swap/ Now I can't figure out the windshield wiper motor wiring

Honestly It was a freak accident... Lol...

I had a 89 Maxima that was my daily driver... I put a stock GN turbo on it for fun.. then chaned it to a TA49 which is one above that... stock GN IC with in/outlet changed... Drove it from 181,000mi when I turbod it to 245,000 it went 13.40@108mph on 11psi with a 2.4 60'... Got 24mpg in town and 31mpg highway. Was a fun 1000.00 car.
ANYWAY... had a parts car here and looked at the wiper motor and said.. humm...
so Put it on fire wall and lined it up. Soooooo Close!

For wires... Well.. I turned my key on ... found the power wire on the camaro harness and put it to one of the wires on the Maxima motor till it moved... then made it perminate... I didn't go bonkers... I'm confident if you spent some actual time at the wires from the 3'd gen to the max you can make it all work like stock... I just wanted it to work on low for when it rains.
Sorry it wasn't very technical on that part hahaha...

Sorry.. did get the car back a couple weeks ago...

Here's the pictures... Looks like I cut the stock nissan arm and welded it to my 3d gen arm... motor pretty much just bolts in stock location.

Re: LS1 Swap/ Now I can't figure out the windshield wiper motor wiring

Would the Nissan wiper motor work with a 4th gen column? I've already tried to wire the 3rd gen motor with the 4th gen harness and I'm getting what everyone else did, the motor only works on high and the wipers only move a few inches. I'm want to know if the same will happen with the Nissan motor.

Re: LS1 Swap/ Now I can't figure out the windshield wiper motor wiring

Hi all, sorry to revive this post, but I am now in the same position as the OP. I've got a 1991 Camaro RS with a 4th Gen T/A Steering column. so I'm going to have to fish my third gen wiper switch out of the old column and disassemble my new column (again) to fix this?

Anyone have updated photos of the Maxima wiper motor installed? A lot of the photos on this thread are no longer showing. Also, does it also have a wiper fluid pump on it?
