beautiful modified 7k-mile L98 for sale (Washington State)
Going with an LS swap on my '89 Formula 350. my L98 would be perfect for someone (living in or near Washington State) who wants to upgrade to an L98 or upgrade an existing L98 as much of the upgrading has already been done. and again, this motor has only 7k on it - its barely broken in.
this engine was rebuilt in 2011. it has had no mechanical issues, only a few intermittent tuning issues in that time. it has not been down for maintenance or anything like that. it has such low miles because I don't drive the car every day, or in marginal weather, plus I have other ponies in my stable. in 6 years, this motor has not leaked a single drop of oil. it still appears as new. I am wanting to go ahead and start selling parts (this motor, my 700R4, ['98-02 SS hood, hatch of donor car] to fund my LS swap. figured I'd give TGO first crack at it. would prefer to sell the motor as a whole. here's what you'd be getting:
Bottom End
L98 Block - original bore (29k miles on car at time of rebuild)
Scat forged connecting rods/ARP waveloc bolts
Hypereutectic pistons 9.3:1 cr
$450 Fluidampr
high volume oil pump
Top End
GM Performance "Fast Burn" aluminum Vortec heads
ZZ4 cam
Edelbrock Vortec lower intake
AS&M Large tube runners
ported plenum
1.5 Ratio roller rockers
Peripherals
Holley adjustable fuel pressure regulator
Accel 24lb injectors
Dyno Don ceramic headers (unless they'll work on 243 LS heads - doubtful)
brand new spark plugs
brand new ceramic boot spark plug wires
valve covers, plenum, Corvette aluminum plenum extension are powder coated flat black - AS&M runners are powder coated black chrome.
I am probably forgetting a quite a few things. feel free to ask questions if you're interested. I have a whole book of receipts for everything.
I think $4,500 is a reasonable asking price. feel free to ask me how I arrived at that. here is a picture. the engine is still in the car.

What's up with the airbox setup...
I'd really like something like that.

It was (is?) the best (maybe the only?) cold air setup for the birds made by SLP and was part of the 50state E-legal 50hp kit.
For the 85-89 birds it came with modified rubber bellows with a piece of metal in them to help the air turn the 90deg corners. (im still not sold on those) Also came with a install kit that would relocate the charcoal canister to the other side of the engine compartment. Think it was 2-300bux when new. They pop up for sale now and then.

Thank you for the replies. I guess I'll just make one!
Apologies to Linson, nice motor! Didn't mean to to take the thread over. If the cold-air intake is for sale, let me know.

No worries. I'll let you know.
I'd prefer to let it go with the motor though.

wow this is tempting. my 87 bird is tired and was thinking to have the full front suspension redone next year and upgrade to a 350 from the tired old 305 tpi setup currently on there...

Looks nice, GLWS. Also, SBC headers and LSx headers are not compatible.

Thanks.
I wasn't sure about the headers because 243s and Fast Burns are D port.

I hear ya. SBC is non-symmetrical port layout; LSx is symmetrical.

Definitely still interested in the SLP CAI. My 89 would sure look pretty with it

If you're interested in selling the dyno don's separately let me know. I'm looking for a set without air tubes and preferrably with the y pipe.

Can't I just buy the whole car? LOL.
Would still take the CAI though if you swap and it's still around.

The CAI has a home when you're ready to get rid of it. I'll stop post posting about it, but just assume I'm waiting/hoping.

No. I was signaling my wife to stop rolling. I wish she would have paused it in the middle.

$3500...
can throw in the trans.
don't need this stuff. it'd make a great power plant for a "roller Nova" or similar, but I just don't need another car in my garage right now.
