TPI to Carb Harness 1991 z28
Ok story goes I have had this 91 z for about 4 years it has never ran right . new computer, new distributor , new injectors, new wires, new ignition control moduel, and new fuel pump new sending unit. still runs like poop. and honestly tired of it so in my normal fashion I have a 1986 Iroc with a Big Block I have enough parts left over from it to build another big block z 28 I have a motor it's a 73 2 bolt standard bore an ls6 vette intake with quadrajet. patriot headers and full 3 inch stock style exhaust. so basically my son and I have decided to do the swap in it to a big block at one point we thought why not do a tbi bigblock using the Camaro harness and truck ecu. but moved past that to just a carb setup the problem comes in with the harness honest I suck at wiring, I built a whole new harness for the iroc and hated every minute of it and don't want to do the same for this I want to keep the ac, heat, and anything else there is under the hood except the tpi stuff and the computer stuff my son just wants to cut the plugs off and move on I want to remove the wiring and have just what is needed problem is I don't know what is needed . any help ?

Re: TPI to Carb Harness 1991 z28
There should be a harness coming out of the drivers side. Starter, alternator and gauges, heat controles.
that you keep. Now there's a harness that comes from the passenger side. That's the ECU you can unplug that from the fire wall. And then proceeded to fish out the wires. It can be done without cutting anything.
it takes time but not very hard.

Re: TPI to Carb Harness 1991 z28
makaveli09; It's only that easy on the 87 and earlier cars. From 88 up the ENGINE wiring and the ECM wiring is bundled together in 1 huge harness.
An 87 & earlier harness isn't plug-&-play with an 88+ car because the wiper wiring moved from the ENGINE harness in 87 to the Headlight Harness in the 88+ cars. Those are the wires I remember off the top of my head - there might be others too. I don't care to hack harnesses - but if you're not up to re-pinning an early harness - you're left with hacking your original.
Here is the C100 (drivers side firewall ) harness connections for the 91 Camaro. (Should be the same for the 92.)
Here is the C207 plugs ( Passenger side - under dash, where ECM plugs in ) You might need a few of those wires to remain intact. You'll have to do some homework yourself to be sure.
* notes I think pin 'A' is the TBI Fan & 'M' is the interior courtesy.
1990 - 1992 C207
PIN Color From / To (Notes)
A Brown ( TBI )
B* Pnk (Red) INJ1 TBI (TBI)
B* Pnk/Blk INJ1 (V6 / TPI)
C Brn/Wht ECM / CE Light
D Grey Speed ECM to Cluster (Not with TBI)
E Wht/Blk ALDL (pin B) / ECM (test)
F Pnk/Blk ECM fuse / ECM
G* Pink/Blk (white) INJ2 TBI (TBI)
G* Pnk/Blk (INJ2 V6 TPI)
H* Tan/Blk ALDL / TCC-ECM (auto)
H* Tan/Blk ALDL / Upshift (stick)
J Org ALDL (pin E) / ECM
K Brown ECM / Buffer (Only TBI)
L Drk Blue Vats to ECM
M Org Interior Lights
N Org/Blk ECM / P/N switch
P Red Speed Sensor (Not with TBI)
R Ppl/Wht Crank Fuse / Cold Start-(only TBI)
Keep the HEADLIGHT harness in place and pick thru the engine side of C100 to pull out the wiring that you will need for the Carb set-up. You shouldn't need much in the original 92 harness. if you remove the TPI & ECM - you will not have a working speedometer, so I would advise getting a TBI VSS Buffer and custom wire the speedo wiring the same as the factory TBI cars so your speedo works. A little custom work - but just a couple wires so not to complicated if you build it just like the stock TBI system.
Hope that helps !
