What Restoration Parts Would You Like to See?
As the NOS parts diminish, I have found the look and quality of the replacement parts for our cars to sometimes be disappointing.
What restoration parts would you like to see for our cars.
I'll start with a few:
Replacement seat covers which look authentic.
Molded hood insulation with the factory look.
245/50/16 Garorback tires.
Your turn...

Wow, I'd agree with all these items. Would love an authentic hood insulation pad.

They could re-create the charcoal fairly easily, but you have to order 1000 yards to get it made. I don't know if there's that much demand for it.
As for the 82-84 style hatch/defrost buttons, I've been toying with having a company reproduce those as well.

Re: What Restoration Parts Would You Like to See?
An easy one - the rubber seal on the console that the parking brake handle pulls through. Would be very easy to make and most are needing to be replaced even if the console itself is still nice.

Re: What Restoration Parts Would You Like to See?
Door drain plugs.
Fender liner screw caps.
Wet wiper nozzles, because having to buy a $30 wiper arm for a 50 cent nozzle is dumb.
91-92 bird turn signal lenses.
All the 85-up Firebird tail light lenses.
Firebird seat foam.
There's a woeful lack of steel patch panels aside from hoods, fenders, and floors.
All the various miscellaneous decals and tags would be nice.
I'm sure I'm forgetting a ton of stuff, but the above items have bugged me recently.

- Inner door panel bezels that surround the door handle and lock slider. All the used ones are heat warped or cracked.

Re: What Restoration Parts Would You Like to See?
I had a textile manufacturer re-create the Camel Tan Parella cloth last year. Purchased 1000 yards of it. Only have about 100 yards left.

Re: What Restoration Parts Would You Like to See?
1. 82 Trans Am PMD seat belt guides molded in the correct colors. You can do the best prep imaginable and use the best paint out there, but the seat belt acts like sandpaper.
2. Rear headliner panel in a better material molded in correct colors. That has to be the most brittle piece of plastic in the entire car.
3. Hatch strut bolt caps molded in correct colors, better material with better clips. Every time I hit a good bump, I have to chase one down and it somehow hides well. They crack easily too.
4. ...agreed on the inner door handle bezels. I've never seen a straight one. Got a set out of low mile car and even they were warped.
5. The round cowl induction rubber seal between the air cleaner and unit and the clips, or maybe a better clip system.
6. ...agreed on the hood insulation pad, especially one with the round opening for cowl induction.
7. The top armrest bolt retainer/clip that goes on the door, but NOT made out of plastic.
8. Firebird/Trans Am front turn signal housings.

1) Gatorbacks
2) Legit Hood Insulation
3) GM Mufflers
4) GM Floor Mats
5) Correct Power Antenna replacements
Those are the ones I always seem to struggle with and would love to find someone to accurately reproduce each of. $$$ in hand for each of those!

They have both these now in reproduction (if you meant the front facing signals/parking lights in regards to turn signal housings)

Re: What Restoration Parts Would You Like to See?
Pretty much anything unique to '82's :
correct dash pad with flat front edge and faux stitching
washer reservoir
seat belt receivers with GM button
82 style sill plates
rear storage compartment cover
center console lid
"triangle" button power mirror switch
rocker-style (vs slide) power hatch release switch
factory-style CFI hood insulation with foil
82 or 83 CFI flap assembly
all interior plastics w/rear panel carpeting
I'm sure there's more, but that's what I can think off of the top...

Re: What Restoration Parts Would You Like to See?
While it's good to see the 82-90 Firebird's front turn signal housing being reproduced, it's a shame they weren't reproduced with clear lenses. But hey, with the legwork done now, producing them with clear lenses might not be too difficult, if someone puts the bug in OER's ear. Even though clear lenses wouldn't be a true reproduction, I'd be willing to bet that sales with clear lenses would be much higher than sales with amber lenses.
The Power Bulge hood!!!
Deluxe "GTA" door panels.
Good quality Pallex cloth in Medium Dark Grey would be nice. I think it has been reproduced in the past, or, at least, an attempt has been made to reproduce it, but the color was supposedly very difficult to get right, with it having a tendency to look greenish.
Reproductions of the Firebird's Z20 Special Appearance Package parts are already offered by Classic Industries.
The Gatorbacks, of course, which will never happen, sadly.
Other than those, most other items have already been mentioned.

In addition to what he charged me for the installing the Princess Dion made custom cloth covers that were made out of 1987 NOS materials... he let me off easy on the mats for only $50.00

Re: What Restoration Parts Would You Like to See?
I have an 83 and 89 both have some small crack in the dashboards. Not bad but still there.
1) New dashboard complete (not the pad)
2) Already mentioned - new taillights
3) better option for door parts like (new) rollers/tracks/regulators for windows inside etc..
4) New seat hinges that lock.
5) New tank vent valves
6) New fender well skirts.
