True...
i don't really feel like building a motor, i can't find any good 350's or 383 forged crate motors. want it to have nice street manners with the lovely whine of the d1sc

500-600 whp?
Need atleast a 4 bolt main block or convert a 2 bolt to splayed 4 bolt billet main caps. Forged crank good h beam rods and forged pistons. 355 or 383 will work but 383 will do abit more power on less boost if you have enough head and cam
Pretty simple with a d1. 8 psi on a 383 with afr 195 heads and a good 230 deg hyd roller will be 500-550 whp all day long. Hell its 400 on motor alone.
Not exactly cheap for good parts however. I would check out ohio crank or molnar technilogies for internals. Good bang for buck

Re: 500-600 hp build
yeah, definitely looking for all forged. will a regular 4 bolt block hold up? or should i look into a dart SHP ? i also want AFR heads... not sure about the TPI system, i have an accel setup but wont dismiss a first tpi or hsr

Dart shp is a good investment for strength and future upgrades.
Considering a oem block will need 500 or more in machine work to prep for a 383 blower motor deal. Possibly more for splayed cap conversion. Atleast 1/3 the way towards a fresh block
A studded 4 bolt will do 600 whp tho. But I wouldn't try to much more
